Sai Htee Saing, A Prominent Shan Artist who Composes and Sings Songs Both in Shan and Burmese

Sai Htee Saing was born in 23 September, 1950 to his parents, Nan Ein and U Nanda. His original name was called Sai Tin U. He was studying at Mandalay University and founded an ethnic music band called "The Wild Ones" in 1973. He started entering into his career in 1969 before he and his friends formed the band. He attracted his audiences when he first sing on air at Myanmar Broadcasting Service. He is also known as a country songs composers. He not only sings in Burmese but also he sings in Shan language. That made him stand out a lot comparing to other signers. Additionally, he also served as one of the leading members of Shan Literature Movement to preserve Shan literature. He is well respect in not only in Shan community but also in Burmese community. He wrote and sang about 3 Shan albums and about 40 Myanmar albums. Apart from his own songs, his vital composer was "Dr. Sai Kham Leik". Many people were mourning when he passed away on 10 March, 2008. Even though he is not with us today, his songs are still well known and like by many people.
